BASEBALL: Tops drop in national polls

The Toppers only managed to slip a few spots after going 2-2 last week.

Western fell three spots to No. 24 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll and dropped from No. 18 to 21 in the poll.

The Toppers began the week by beating Kentucky, and pitcher Matt Ridings followed that up with a win over Arkansas State on Friday. But Western’s luck against the Red Wolves ran out, and the Tops dropped the last two games of the series, giving them their first series defeat of the year.

Western will be back in action against Murray State at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Denes Field and will play five straight games at home this week.
