Head Coach Ken McDonald thought it was a clean block. Arkansas State coach John Brady just said the officials made a great split-second decision.
Either way, senior forward Jeremy Evans’ attempt to block Martavius Adams’ hookshot with six seconds left in the second half was called for goaltending, pulling the Red Wolves to within a point of the Toppers.
McDonald said he’d look back at the film — but didn’t see goaltending — and Brady had an interesting take on the officiating, especially from a coach.
“This is really a positive statement. Our officials are super — super — because there’s no way I can see the difference between a quarter of an inch, if it’s goaltending or not,” Brady said. “That’s how good our officials are. It’s unbelievable, and that’s a compliment. I’m being kind.”
Evans finished the night with three blocks.
