Head Coach Mary Taylor Cowles confirmed Wednesday night that sophomore guard Caitlin House is no longer with the Lady Topper basketball program.
House, who played in 20 games as a freshman, averaged 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in five games this season.
She was inactive for 12 of the team’s first 25 games this season – seven for undisclosed illness and five following gallbladder surgery, according to Western media relations.
“I think it was just a combination of things, but I think it’s definitely the best decision for her, and we support that with a granted release if she chooses to take that and go on and play,” Cowles said.
Cowles said she didn’t know if House would remain enrolled at Western or try to pursue basketball somewhere else, but she wishes her the best.
“Hopefully, she can get her health back and get ready to go,” Cowles said.
